Make Free Ringtones for iPhone with iTunes Steps

Step 1: Open and run iTunes. Locate the song you'd like to turn in to a ringtone. Then right click on the song and select "Get Info" option. From this scree, tab "Options" on top menu, then check both the "Start Time" and "Stop Time" boxes.

Please specify what time interval, then click "OK" button on bottom.

Step 2: On iTunes program, head to "Advanced -> Create AAC Version or Create Apple Lossless Version". You must ensure your iTunes "Import Settings" are set to "AAC" or "Apple Lossless" and not "MP3".

A duplicate copy of your song will show up in iTunes, this new song may have the same filename but shorter "Time". Return to the initial song and uncheck those "Start Time" and "End Time" boxes.

Step 3: Drag the duplicate song to your desktop, then remove this duplicate song from your iTunes. On desktop, please rename the duplicate song with the ".m4r" file extension, this turns your song file into an iPhone ringtone file.

Step 4: Drag the newly renamed .m4r file back into iTunes. Double-click on the new .m4r file and it will be added into iTunes as a ringtone which can be synced to your iPhone.
